This program gives high school students the opportunity to help make important decisions about city services by serving on one of the city’s many boards and commissions. Student board appointments will run from September 2019 through May 2020. All positions are voluntary and unpaid, and are open to any high-school applicants residing within Boise city limits.
“It is rare for students to have the opportunity to engage directly in the management of our government,” Mayor Bieter said. “Real world experience like this is enriching both for the students, who get to learn about the many different aspects of local government, and for the board and committee members and attendees that benefit from hearing the student’s perspective.”
Boards and commissions with student placement opportunities are Airport, Arts & History, Design Review, Development Impact Fee Advisory, Historic Preservation, Housing Authority, Library, Mayor’s Council on Children and Youth, Parks & Recreation, and Planning and Zoning.
More information about the positions can be found on Mayor Bieter’s website or by calling (208) 972-8520.
