Mayor Bieter encourages residents to nominate neighbors for recognition by city

Mayor David Bieter today encouraged all Boise residents to honor the neighborhood heroes who make Boise a better place to live by nominating them for special “Good Neighbor” recognition by the city.

Nominations can be submitted by visiting and are due Monday, Sept. 16. Honorees will be recognized by the mayor at the Good Neighbor Day celebration, 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., Tuesday, September 24 at the Boise Depot.

The mayor also announced the full schedule for the 2013 Boise Celebrates Good Neighbors program. This year’s program includes National Night Out, a neighborhood block party at Whitney Community Center, a series of events at Boise’s neighborhood libraries and information workshops designed to increase participation in the City’s Neighborhood Reinvestment Grant program.

Boise Celebrates Good Neighbors was created in 2011 to encourage neighborhood participation and to acknowledge residents who contribute to making Boise a better place to live.

“It’s important to recognize the people around us who go out of their way with deeds small and large to improve our neighborhoods and our city,” Mayor David Bieter said. “It is often the quiet, individual efforts that collectively make the biggest impact.  But these selfless actions frequently get overlooked. I hope all Boise residents will take a moment to consider their good neighbors and nominate someone for recognition.”
