City Council To Hold July 19 Public Hearing on FY 2017 Budget Recommendations

The Boise City Council will hold a public hearing on the City of Boise’s proposed Fiscal Year 2017 budget and associated fee changes at their regular 6 p.m. meeting on July 19 at Boise City Hall.

The proposed $599.5 million budget includes a $208.6 million general fund budget for funding basic city services like public safety (police and fire), libraries and parks. The full budget booklet, including an executive summary and Mayor David Bieter’s overview message, can be viewed online here.

All Boise City Council meetings are open to the public. At Tuesday’s public hearing, each citizen interested in commenting on the proposed budget will have three minutes to address the City Council. A sign-in sheet will be available at the meeting. Members of the public unable to testify at Tuesday’s meeting can also comment before next week’s public hearing by the following methods:

  • E-mail: mayor@cityofboise.org
  • Phone: (208) 384-4422
  • Mail: Mayor’s Office, City of Boise, P.O. Box 500, Boise, ID, 83701

All comments received prior to Tuesday’s hearing will be accepted as part of the record and provided to council members for their consideration prior to next week’s meeting.

As is the case with all council meetings and work sessions, this year’s budget deliberation will be streamed live and archived on the City Council’s website at citycouncil.cityofboise.org.

Final adoption of the FY 2017 budget is expected in August.
